Job Description

The Future of Development Cooperation Coalition, co-hosted by ACET and the Center for Global Development, seeks an accomplished Technical Lead to drive transformative change in global development systems. This senior consultancy role offers a unique opportunity to influence international policy while ensuring African perspectives shape the future of development cooperation.

Role Overview

As Technical Lead, you will manage ACET’s comprehensive contributions to this groundbreaking initiative, overseeing research, consultations, and high-level coalition meetings. You will represent African interests in global forums while coordinating with international partners to build a more equitable development cooperation framework. This position demands both strategic vision and practical project management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Coordination

Direct ACET’s daily contributions to the Coalition initiative
Oversee production of four research reports and coordination of four stakeholder consultations
Manage one major Coalition meeting hosted by ACET
Supervise supporting consultants and project staff

Strategic Representation & Advocacy

Represent ACET in high-level international forums and policy dialogues
Engage diverse stakeholders across Global South and Global North constituencies
Ensure African perspectives inform Coalition outputs and recommendations
Provide expert guidance on development cooperation architecture and reform

Partnership Management & Reporting

Liaise with Coalition Secretariat, funding partners, and supporting governments
Deliver monthly progress updates to ACET leadership
Maintain alignment between ACET activities and Coalition priorities
Ensure timely delivery of all project deliverables and strategic inputs

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

15+ years in global development policy, multilateral engagement, or international cooperation
Comprehensive understanding of development cooperation systems and reform debates
Demonstrated success managing high-profile, multi-stakeholder initiatives
Excellent representation and stakeholder engagement capabilities
Ability to balance detailed project management with strategic thought leadership
Willingness to undertake regular international travel

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional proficiency in French and/or Arabic
Experience with African development institutions and policy frameworks
Background in international research coordination and policy advocacy
