Role Overview

As Local Content Specialist, you will identify and develop local business opportunities while maintaining compliance with Ghana’s Minerals and Mining Regulations. You will collaborate with procurement teams to redirect spending toward qualified local suppliers and implement development programs that enhance local business competitiveness. This position demands both strategic thinking and practical implementation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Development & Capacity Building

Identify and qualify local businesses for inclusion in the supplier databaseDevelop growth strategies for promising local enterprises through targeted supp
Provide business development training and facilitate access to funding opportunities
Assess local company capabilities against operational procurement requirements

Strategic Procurement & Compliance

Analyze spend patterns to identify immediate local sourcing opportunities
Ensure strict compliance with Local Content Regulations (L.I. 2431)
Prepare annual Local Procurement Plans and quarterly performance reports
Monitor regulatory changes and communicate business impacts to stakeholders

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

Build effective relationships with community leaders and local businesses
Collaborate with procurement teams to implement local content initiatives
Educate internal stakeholders on local content requirements and implications
Drive community development projects that result in commercial supply chains

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field
Minimum 5-8 years in local content development or supplier development
Comprehensive knowledge of Ghana’s Local Content Regulations (L.I. 2431)
Postgraduate qualification in relevant discipline (strongly preferred)

Technical Competencies:

Strong leadership and presentation capabilities
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Experience with SAP ECC and spend analysis tools
Understanding of mining industry operations and supply chain requirements
Knowledge of Incoterms and import/export processes
