Our Africa Business Unit, managing key operations in Ghana, Tanzania, and Guinea, is now seeking an accomplished Civil Engineer to join our dynamic Project Department.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Lead: Engineering, Design and Integration, you will become part of a specialized team driving engineering projects across Africa. This role places you at the forefront of designing and delivering critical infrastructure—from earthworks and drainage systems to concrete structures and mining facilities. You will ensure projects meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency while aligning with our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Investigate and analyze engineering opportunities within existing and planned mining facilities.
Develop innovative concept solutions in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Evaluate and recommend optimal approaches based on technical, budgetary, and operational requirements.
Oversee earthworks, concrete, structural steel, and infrastructure design through all project phases.
Define scope and specifications for EPCM and contractor engagements.
Manage work execution levels and professionally approve final project deliverables.
Coordinate discipline-specific activities and guide the development of junior colleagues.
Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders to ensure project alignment.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (preferably a 4-year program).
Professional registration with an internationally or locally recognized engineering body.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in design, construction, and project execution within mining or heavy industry.
Proven expertise in structural calculations for steel and concrete.
Proficiency in engineering software such as Prota-structure, Auto-Cad, Navisworks, or Bentley.
Strong skills in MS Office, document management, and project coordination.

Advantageous:

Formal project management education or certification.
Hands-on experience with multidimensional modeling, drafting, or GIS software.
Background in HSE and QA/QC management systems.
