Job Duties

  • Develop preliminary technical project scopes and budgets for capital renewal initiatives.
  • Support deferred maintenance planning through technical assessments and project recommendations.
  • Maintain and update deferred maintenance databases and facility condition records.
  • Research existing facility conditions to support replacement and renewal priorities.
  • Review project design documents and construction-stage shop drawings for compliance.
  • Support prioritisation of campus capital renewal and deferred maintenance projects.
  • Provide technical guidance regarding maintenance documentation and project costs.
  • Assist with architectural and engineering design interpretation for stakeholders.
  • Serve as project planner when assigned, including scope, scheduling, and planning coordination.
  • Prepare reports and presentations related to capital maintenance initiatives.
  • Engage with university representatives to identify and evaluate facility needs.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in facilities planning, design, or construction.
  • Strong understanding of building systems and construction methodologies.
  • Experience preparing construction estimates and capital project budgets.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and energy conservation practices.
  • Understanding of accessibility requirements including ADA and Illinois accessibility standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and establish competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
