POSITION: Accountant Clerk

Powertel Ghana Limited is hiring an Accountant Clerk to join our team. Your Mission

You will take responsibility for assisting with accounts payable and receivable, processing invoices, and reconciling bank statements. Your role includes maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the finance team with month end closing tasks, preparing payment vouchers, filing financial documents, and responding to vendor or customer inquiries about invoices. You will also assist with petty cash management and basic financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, record keeping, month end support, and administrative tasks. Here is what you will tackle:

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • You will assist with accounts payable, processing vendor invoices and scheduling payments.
  • Assisting with accounts receivable, recording customer payments and following up on overdue accounts.

Bank Reconciliation

  • You will reconcile bank statements, matching company records with bank transactions.
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.

Record Keeping

  • You will maintain accurate financial records, filing invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Ensuring documents are organized and accessible for audits.

Month End Support

  • You will support the finance team with month end closing tasks, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Preparing basic financial reports such as expense summaries or aging reports.

Administrative Support

  • You will prepare payment vouchers and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Responding to vendor or customer inquiries about invoice status.
  • Assisting with petty cash management, tracking receipts and balances.

What You Bring to the Role

Experience

  • A minimum of two years of experience in an accounting clerk or similar role.

Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Basic accounting knowledge, including debits, credits, and double entry bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data entry.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Tally gives you an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail to catch errors in invoices, reconciliations, or data entry.
  • Good organizational skills to file documents and track deadlines.
  • Reliability to complete tasks on time without constant supervision.
  • Methodical: You follow accounting procedures consistently.
  • Discreet: You handle financial information with confidentiality.
  • Proactive: You identify discrepancies and bring them to the supervisor’s attention.

Salary
