Role Overview

TBI’s Government Innovation and Digital Transformation practice empowers political leaders to harness technology, data, and artificial intelligence. We are now expanding our global team and seeking a Senior Advisor on Artificial Intelligence to join our Global Client Solutions unit. This role sits at the exciting intersection of technology and governance, translating AI’s potential into practical strategies for government transformation.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will bridge political strategy and technical implementation, providing senior government officials with actionable advice on AI adoption and regulation.

Your core contributions will include:

Developing TBI’s global AI advisory offers, including toolkits, frameworks, and best-practice guides for government use.
Identifying and shaping high-impact AI opportunities in collaboration with our in-country teams.
Advising senior political leaders on AI strategy development, investment planning, and institutional capability building.
Designing and supporting the implementation of AI-powered solutions from concept through to execution.
Representing TBI in high-level engagements with ministers, donors, and technology leaders.
Building internal capacity through training and knowledge sharing to scale successful AI initiatives across regions.
Contributing to regulatory design and governance frameworks for responsible AI adoption.

Person Specification

We are looking for an exceptional professional who combines technical fluency with political acumen and public sector experience. You do not need to be a developer, but you must thoroughly understand how AI works and the conditions necessary for its successful deployment in government contexts.

Essential Qualifications:

A proven track record of leading multiple AI or advanced data implementation projects across different sectors or countries.
Significant experience advising senior political leaders or public officials, either within government or in an advisory capacity.
A strong grasp of core AI concepts including large language models, machine learning, and responsible AI frameworks.
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences effectively.
A strategic mindset with a clear bias for action, moving seamlessly from policy concept to delivery plan.
Comfort working across diverse political systems and regional contexts, with willingness to travel globally approximately 30% of the time.

Desirable Attributes:

Experience with national technology ecosystems in Africa, Latin America, or Southeast Asia.
Background in AI regulation, digital policy, or major government transformation programmes.
Multilingual capabilities in French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
Experience brokering public-private collaborations or working with international development partners.
