Job Duties

Design telecom networks and circuits supporting reliable, secure, and high performance utility communication systems consistently.
Lead engineering activities involving microwave radio links, fiber optic systems, LTE, satellite communications, and IP/MPLS networks.
Prepare engineering calculations, technical drawings, implementation documentation, and installation support materials professionally.
Support planning, configuration, testing, validation, and migration of utility telecommunications systems successfully.
Collaborate closely with project managers and construction teams while supporting installation and commissioning activities effectively.
Conduct technical investigations and engineering studies involving SCADA communications, protection circuits, and cybersecurity infrastructure regularly.
Ensure all engineering work complies with industry standards, EGBC regulations, and BC Hydro technical requirements consistently.
Participate in field visits supporting maintenance, restoration activities, and multidisciplinary engineering collaboration across provincial sites.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another closely related engineering discipline completed.
Registration as P.Eng. or EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, or active pursuit of registration eligibility.
Experience designing telecommunications systems including microwave, fiber optic, LTE, IP/MPLS, or satellite communication networks effectively.
Strong understanding of networking technologies including IPv4, IPv6, BGP, MPLS, QoS, and traffic engineering concepts, successfully.
Experience configuring Nokia IP/MPLS platforms and related telecommunications technologies considered highly valuable.
Excellent technical writing, communication, and problem solving abilities supporting engineering documentation and collaboration consistently.
Ability to work independently while managing complex engineering assignments and project responsibilities efficiently.
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence supporting site visits and field related engineering activities regularly required.
