POSITION: Credit Control Officer
TotalEnergies is seeking a Credit Control Officer to join our team. If you can collect and analyze block orders, prepare customer statements, follow up on debt transfers to the Legal Department, and track collection promises, this role offers the opportunity to ensure we issue credit only to customers who can pay, protecting the company’s liquidity and working capital position.

As a Credit Control Officer, you will not simply process credit; you will analyze block orders, monitor customer accounts, follow up on collection promises, and coordinate with Treasury and Legal departments.
Your Mission
You will assist in organizing monthly Credit Control Meetings for all channels including General Trade and Network. Your role includes collecting analysis of block orders for management review and release, preparing Total card analysis, and updating all customer accounts in the Harmonie Tool. Additionally, you will prepare monthly customer statements, follow up on debtors transferred to the Legal Department, maintain good relationships with stakeholders, and track collection promises made by Network and Consumer Territory Managers.
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans meeting coordination, block order analysis, customer account updates, statement preparation, legal follow up, relationship management, collection tracking, and treasury coordination. Here is what you will tackle:
Monthly Credit Control Meetings
- You will assist in organizing monthly Credit Control Meetings for all channels including General Trade and Network.
- Preparing agendas, gathering data, and documenting decisions.
Block Order Analysis
- You will collect analysis of block orders for review and subsequent release by Management.
- Identifying which orders carry acceptable risk and which need modification or rejection.
Customer Account Updates
- You will prepare Total card analysis and update all customer accounts in the Harmonie Tool.
- Ensuring every transaction reflects accurately in the system.
Customer Statements
- You will prepare monthly customer statements of account for circulation to clients.
- Helping customers understand their outstanding balances and due dates.
Legal Department Coordination
- You will follow up on all debtors transferred to the Legal Department and inform the Credit Control Manager accordingly.
- Tracking legal cases to ensure timely resolution.
Stakeholder Relationships
- You will create and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders, ensuring achievement of yearly objectives for the credit control unit.
- Building trust with sales, treasury, and legal teams.
Collection Follow Up
- You will follow up on collection promises made by respective Network and Consumer Territory Managers.
- Escalating broken promises to appropriate leadership.
Treasury Coordination
- You will follow up with Treasury officers on the timely matching of customer accounts.
- Ensuring payments applied correctly and promptly.
Safety Responsibility
At all times, remain cognizant of the company’s safety requirements regarding your position and conduct. Abide by the golden rules on safety, report all cases of near misses you encounter, and use a STOP card where necessary.
What You Bring to the Role
Education
- A good first degree (minimum of second class upper) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
- A minimum of three years of experience in a similar credit control position.
Skills & Personal Attributes
- Good interpersonal relationships to work effectively with sales, treasury, legal, and management teams.
- Strong communication skills to explain credit decisions and collection expectations clearly.
- Strong analytical skills to assess block orders and customer payment patterns.
- Strong organization skills to manage monthly meetings, customer statements, and legal follow ups simultaneously.
