New Job Opening at Tree Aid Ghana
POSITION: Project Coordinator
Tree Aid Ghana is seeking a Project Coordinator to oversee a Nature Based Solutions project across the Upper East and North East regions. If you hold a master’s degree in natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, or a related field, bring at least five years of project coordination experience (preferably in greenhouse gas removal or sustainability projects), and want to work with a respected international NGO, this role offers the perfect opportunity to drive environmental and social impact.
Why Tree Aid?
Tree Aid works in the dry lands of Africa, supporting rural communities to unlock the potential of trees to beat poverty and protect the environment. As Project Coordinator, you will not simply track activities; you will develop and implement project plans, monitor progress, prepare documentation, and support new project development by sharing funding opportunities and creating organisational visibility. You will coordinate carbon credit development, ensure compliance with applicable standards and methodologies (Verra 0047), manage stakeholder engagement with farmer groups and community representatives, and navigate land tenure systems. Moreover, you will work autonomously and remotely from support teams, with periodic visits to the Tamale office and occasional travel to other Tree Aid countries.
Your Mission
You will take responsibility for the overall coordination, implementation, and monitoring of a Nature Based Solutions project. Your focus will span project management, carbon credit development, stakeholder collaboration, monitoring and reporting, and environmental and social governance. Your ability to facilitate workshops, track performance, analyse data, and disseminate lessons learned will keep the project on time, on budget, and aligned with ESG policies.
Key Responsibilities
Your role spans project management, carbon credit development, stakeholder collaboration, monitoring and reporting, and ESG compliance. Here is what you will tackle:

- Preparing and maintaining project documentation including reports and updates creates a clear audit trail.
- Supporting the development of new Tree Aid projects by providing project ideas, sharing funding opportunities, and creating visibility for the organisation.
Carbon Credit Development
- You will coordinate the development of project outcomes, including validation and verification processes.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable project standards and methodologies (Verra 0047) protects our carbon credits’ credibility.
- Managing stakeholder engagement, including farmer groups, community representatives, and land tenure systems, builds trust and ensures local buy in.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- You will build and maintain relationships with funding partners, government agencies, and local communities.
- Facilitating workshops, training sessions, and capacity building activities empowers local stakeholders to take ownership.
Monitoring & Reporting
- You will track project performance and prepare regular status reports for donors and management.
- Analysing data and providing insights to improve project outcomes turns information into action.
- Disseminating lessons learned to stakeholders and partners spreads best practices across the organisation.
Environmental & Social Governance (ESG)
- You will ensure adherence to ESG policies and protocols, protecting both the environment and community rights.
- Identifying and mitigating risks related to environmental and social governance prevents problems before they escalate.
- Ensuring the application of Nature Based Solutions in project delivery keeps our work aligned with Tree Aid’s mission.
