POSITION: Process Training Specialist 

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is seeking an experienced Process Training Specialist to join our Processing Department. If you hold a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Mineral Processing, bring at least five years of experience in a mining process plant, and want to design and deliver competency based training for plant operators, this role offers the perfect opportunity to combine your technical expertise with a passion for workforce development.

Your Mission

You will take responsibility for designing, coordinating, and delivering technical and safety focused training programs for process plant personnel. Your focus will span training development, competency assessment, coaching, supervision of trainees, SOP management, and incident reduction. Your ability to translate complex processes into practical lessons will directly impact operational efficiency and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Your role spans training delivery, competency assessment, mentoring, documentation, and collaboration. Here is what you will tackle:

Training Program Development & Delivery

  • You will develop and deliver training programs specific to mineral processing operations, including crushing, grinding, thickening, dewatering, and tailings management.
  • Conducting induction and refresher training in line with approved modules and regulatory requirements keeps everyone current.
  • Translating complex technical processes into clear, practical training content makes learning accessible and memorable.

Competency Assessment & Coaching

  • You will deliver competency based training for plant operators and technical personnel, ensuring skills meet operational standards.
  • Assessing employee competency through practical evaluations and written assessments identifies gaps and tracks progress.
  • Coaching and mentoring employees to improve technical understanding and operational performance builds a stronger, safer team.

Trainee Supervision & Onboarding

  • You will supervise Process trainees to ensure competency, compliance, and readiness for independent work.
  • Providing support for the Company’s mine wide onboarding and induction training for new hires and contractors integrates new team members smoothly.

Documentation & Reporting

  • You will prepare training schedules and submit monthly reports to your supervisor, demonstrating progress and identifying needs.
  • Maintaining training matrices, records, and compliance documentation keeps us audit ready.
  • Developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while ensuring employees receive training accordingly creates consistency.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • You will work closely with plant supervisors, engineers, Training Officers, and safety teams to identify training needs.
  • Continuously reviewing and updating training materials to reflect process changes and operational improvements keeps content relevant.
  • Supporting incident reduction initiatives through targeted training interventions prevents accidents and protects people.

What You Bring to the Role

Knowledge & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related hands on mineral processing operational competency training qualification.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a mining process plant or mineral processing environment.
  • A strong understanding of plant operations, process control, and safety systems.
  • Proven experience delivering technical training in an industrial or mining setting.
  • Familiarity with competency based training frameworks.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training documentation systems.

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and communication skills for engaging adult learners.
  • Ability to present technical concepts in a clear, practical manner, avoiding jargon overload.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving abilities for diagnosing performance issues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
