POSITION: Branch Manager

BRAC Ghana Savings and Loans Ltd is looking for Branch Managers to join our team in Teiman, Asamankese, Somanya, Koforidua, and Akim Oda. This is not a behind the desk role. You will oversee group meetings, manage cash transactions, and develop your staff. You will ensure our microfinance programs run smoothly and serve clients effectively. Your leadership will directly impact the economic empowerment of women across Ghana.
Responsibilities
You will take full responsibility for branch operations. Also, you will manage group formations, oversee collections, and ensure accurate record keeping. You will also develop your team and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders.
Your day to day impact will include:
- Forming and Managing Groups: You will arrange member admissions after initial screening. You will announce official group formations through orientation programs. You will ensure each group includes 15 to 30 potential borrowers.
- Overseeing Collections: You will ensure daily installment collection follows the schedule. You will oversee at least two group meetings per day and reconcile passbooks. Within six months, you will ensure 100 percent of member passbooks reconcile with collection sheets.
- Preparing Target Plans: You will create yearly branch targets for groups, members, disbursements, and overdue management. Also, you will break these targets into monthly plans for each Credit Officer. You will monitor operations closely against these plans.
- Creating a Positive Environment: You will foster an enabling atmosphere for all staff. Moreover, you will maintain strong relations with local administration. You will ensure quick and quality service to external stakeholders including neighbors, government, and other organizations.
- Developing Your Team: You will conduct weekly staff meetings every Friday to discuss targets and achievements. You will identify both poor performers and top performers, guiding each appropriately. You will listen to staff challenges and help resolve them. You will build capacity through mentoring, coaching, and counseling.
- Ensuring Client Satisfaction: You will make sure Credit Officers follow the Microfinance code of conduct. You will strive for the best quality service both in the field and at the branch. Also, you will follow up on client complaints and concerns carefully. You will review poverty profiles and geographic targeting to align with BRAC’s mission.
- Preparing Reports: You will deliver daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management on time. You will analyze monthly trends and daily performance reports for each Credit Officer. You will share monitoring and audit reports promptly. You will maintain and update the risk register for the Area Manager.
Qualification and Experience
You combine strong financial skills with genuine care for people. You understand that microfinance is about more than money. It is about opportunity, dignity, and empowerment.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Relevant Education: An HND or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Proven Experience: At least two years in a similar role handling cash and bank transactions. You know how to prepare cash requisitions, cash certificates, and bank reconciliation statements.
- Technical Proficiency: You work comfortably with Microsoft Word and Excel. You can navigate the internet and use basic office software.
- Communication Skills: You write and report effectively in English. You communicate clearly with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- Professional Certification: Any certification in banking, finance, or accounting gives you an edge.
