Duties and Responsibilities

As the Head of Internal Audit, you will not just check boxes. Instead, you will lead the charge in ensuring the bank’s risk management, governance, and internal control processes operate effectively. Also, you will report directly to the Board’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee. Moreover, your work will detect and prevent fraud before it happens.

Here is exactly what you will own:

Ensure Compliance: You will guarantee compliance with the Banking Law, the Companies Act 2019, and all bank policies. You will leave no regulatory stone unturned.
Appraise Controls: You will regularly evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls. You will propose new controls and improvements to the Board’s Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
Improve Risk Management: You will assist management in strengthening the risk management process across the entire bank. You will enhance the control environment and operational efficiency.
Support the Committee: You will help the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee fulfill its duties and responsibilities to the bank. You will be their eyes and ears.
Develop Audit Programmes: You will create a comprehensive annual internal audit programme. You will then execute financial, operational, and compliance audits according to that plan.
Conduct Investigations: When irregularities surface, you will lead investigations. You will get to the bottom of every issue.
Follow Up: You will conduct follow up reviews on deficiencies noted during audits. You will ensure corrective action happens and sticks.
Lastly, Perform Other Duties: You will take on additional responsibilities consistent with the goals of the internal audit department, with approval from the Audit Committee or CEO.

Qualifications and Experience

Fiaseman Bank needs an audit leader who combines advanced education, professional certifications, and deep banking experience.

Your Qualifications:

Educational Foundation: You hold a Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, or a related field.
Professional Certification: You possess a professional qualification in Accounting or Banking. This is non negotiable. Specifically, you hold ACCA, ACIB, ICAG, or CIA certification.
Banking Experience: You have at least 5 years of continuous post qualification experience in Internal Audit, Compliance, Forensics, and Banking Operations. Ideally, this experience comes from the banking sector.
Managerial Experience: You have a minimum of 2 years experience at the managerial level. You have led teams before.
T24 Proficiency: You are very conversant with T24 Banking Software. You can navigate this core banking system with ease.
