Rays of Hope Centre Calls For Job Applications

Job Title: Grants Officer

Do you believe that every child deserves a second chance? Are you tired of writing meaningless marketing copy and ready to write something that actually matters? Can you craft a proposal that makes a foundation reach for its checkbook because the story moves them to action? If so, Rays of Hope Centre wants to meet you.

Rays of Hope Centre is not just another NGO. Instead, they are a lifeline for the most vulnerable children in Ghana. They provide welfare, shelter, and educational support to marginalized, non-schooling youngsters and street-connected children in Ashaiman, Tema, Dodowa, and other urban areas in Greater Accra. Consequently, they need a talented, driven, and detail-obsessed Grants Officer to join the team.

This role is not about pushing paper. It is about pulling resources. You will be the voice that speaks for children who cannot speak for themselves. You will find the funding, write the proposals, and manage the relationships that keep the doors open and the programs running.

If you are ready to use your writing superpowers for good, keep reading.

Responsibilities

As the Grants Officer, you will own the grant lifecycle from start to finish. You will research opportunities, write compelling proposals, manage submissions, and ensure every funder feels valued and informed. Moreover, you will work with the team to measure outcomes and report success in ways that inspire continued investment.

Here is exactly what you will own:

Lead the Grant Development Process

  • Research Opportunities: You will identify foundations, corporations, and government agencies whose funding priorities align with the mission of Rays of Hope Centre.
  • Draft Winning Proposals: You will write proposals, Letters of Inquiry, grant narratives, and budgets. You will collaborate with program and finance staff to ensure every detail is accurate and compelling.
  • Submit Applications: You will manage the submission process, ensuring every application arrives complete and on time.
  • Coordinate with Funders: You will meet with funders alongside the Director of Development. You will explore opportunities and fulfill site visit requirements.

Manage the Grant Lifecycle

  • Maintain the Calendar: You will keep a master calendar of grants, prospects, deadlines, and reporting schedules. Nothing will slip through the cracks.
  • Organize Documentation: You will maintain a library of grant support documents, including resumes, bios, success stories, and organizational materials.
  • Execute Acknowledgments: You will write and send thank you letters. You will also facilitate grant contracts and agreements.
  • Celebrate Funders Publicly: You will ensure funders receive acknowledgment via the website, e-newsletter, and social media platforms.

Monitor and Report on Grants

  • Track Requirements: You will monitor funder reporting schedules and ensure the team meets every single requirement.
  • Draft Progress Reports: You will work with the Development Team to draft compelling progress reports that fully capture programmatic success.
  • Assemble Supporting Materials: You will gather budget reports, outcome measurements, success stories, and photographs. Then, you will submit comprehensive reports to funders.
  • Tell the Story: You will write targeted program updates, blog posts, and press releases that keep funders engaged and excited about the impact.

Support Special Projects

  • Step In Where Needed: You will assist with other duties as assigned. In a growing NGO, flexibility is key.

Skills and Experience

Rays of Hope Centre needs a self-starter who combines technical grant-writing skills with genuine compassion for the mission.

Your Qualifications:

  • Educational Foundation: You hold a Bachelor’s degree. Alternatively, you bring at least four years of work experience in nonprofit administration, grant writing, or fundraising.
  • Grant Writing Experience: You have two or more years of hands-on grant writing experience. You know how to craft a narrative that wins funding.
  • Strategic Thinker: You can think strategically about fundraising. You understand how to diversify income streams and build long-term sustainability.
  • Writing Excellence: Your writing is clear, compelling, and error-free. You can translate complex program data into stories that resonate.
  • Data Comfort: You are comfortable with data analysis and outcome measurement. You know how to prove impact with numbers.
  • Budget Savvy: You understand program budgets and can collaborate with finance staff to create accurate grant budgets.
  • Project Management: You have strong project management skills. You can juggle multiple deadlines without dropping the ball.
  • Confidence: You are a confident, self-starting professional who does not wait to be told what to do. You see opportunities and you seize them.

Your Personal Attributes:

  • Mission-Driven: You genuinely care about marginalized children and street-connected youth. This is not just a job; it is a calling.
  • Organized: You maintain meticulous records and never miss a deadline.
  • Collaborative: You work well with program staff, finance teams, and leadership.
  • Detail-Oriented: You catch the small errors that others miss. You know that a typo can sink a proposal.
