The Role: Partnership Lead
We are looking for a strategic and results-oriented Partnership Lead to take ownership of a critical growth area for our business. This role focuses specifically on designing and executing strategic partnerships that engage diaspora communities and their extensive networks. The successful candidate will possess a nuanced understanding of the unique needs, aspirations, and influence of diaspora populations. You will mobilize these networks and channels to drive significant business growth, expand our distribution reach, and elevate our brand visibility across key markets.
This is not a passive, desk-bound position. It is a proactive, outward-facing leadership role that demands creativity, sharp negotiation skills, and the genuine ability to build lasting relationships. You will serve as the bridge between Old Mutual and the vibrant diaspora communities that hold immense potential for collaboration and mutual growth.
Key Responsibilities
As the Partnership Lead, you will take full ownership of the diaspora partnership lifecycle from strategy development through to execution and evaluation. Specifically, you will:
Develop and Implement Strategy
- Lead the design and development of a comprehensive diaspora partnership strategy that aligns directly with our broader business objectives.
- Ensure the strategy addresses the unique characteristics, needs, and preferences of various diaspora communities and networks.
- Continuously refine the strategy based on market feedback, performance data, and emerging trends.
Identify and Onboard Partners
- Proactively identify potential partners, including diaspora associations, investor groups, professional networks, and community organizations.
- Conduct targeted outreach to establish initial connections and explore collaboration opportunities
- Negotiate partnership terms and agreements that deliver mutual value and sustainable growth.
- Onboard new diaspora partnerships smoothly, ensuring they are set up for success from day one.
Manage and Nurture Relationships
- Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with all diaspora partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for partner inquiries, needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Ensure partners feel valued, supported, and fully engaged in our shared mission.
Create Engagement Initiatives
- Design and execute creative engagement initiatives that resonate deeply with diaspora audiences.
- Plan and coordinate events that bring partners and communities together in meaningful ways.
- Develop targeted campaigns that drive awareness, participation, and conversion.
- Establish ambassador programmes that empower diaspora leaders to champion our brand within their networks.
Coordinate Cross-Functional Teams
- Work closely with internal teams, including Business Development, Product, Marketing, Legal, and Finance to ensure successful partnership activation.
- Facilitate seamless communication and collaboration across departments.
- Ensure all partnership initiatives have the necessary support, resources, and alignment for success.
Track Performance and Ensure Compliance
- Establish clear metrics to track partnership performance and return on investment.
- Manage regular reporting on partnership activities, outcomes, and actionable insights.
- Ensure all partnership activities comply with internal policies and external regulations.
- Identify areas for improvement and optimization based on rigorous data analysis.
Build Internal Capacity
- Build internal capacity within the organization on effective diaspora engagement strategies.
- Support regional teams in implementing diaspora initiatives across their respective markets.
- Share best practices, success stories, and lessons learned to strengthen our collective approach.
