Position Overview

BRONIEL Foods is offering an exciting career opportunity for young, ambitious professionals to join our diverse and growing team. This Value Chain Development Officer role is critical to strengthening our raw material sourcing operations and expanding our product portfolio. You will conduct in-depth research across priority agricultural value chains and engage directly with farmer groups, producers, and suppliers to secure consistent access to high-quality products.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assume the following core responsibilities:

  • Market Research and Value Chain Analysis: You will conduct comprehensive research into priority agricultural value chains, including pineapple, cashew, shea, and macadamia nuts. Your analysis will uncover key market dynamics such as production volumes, geographical sourcing areas, seasonal trends, and quality benchmarks.
  • Supplier and Farmer Engagement: A primary duty involves identifying, mapping, and onboarding farmer groups, cooperatives, aggregators, and suppliers across key sourcing regions, particularly within Eastern and Western Africa. You will build and maintain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with these stakeholders.
  • Database and Inventory Management: You will support the maintenance of a comprehensive farmer database and track raw material inventory supplied to buyers. Furthermore, you will coordinate the efficient supply of quality raw materials from designated areas to partner processing and packing plants.
  • Sourcing Strategy and Portfolio Expansion: You will actively support the development of innovative sourcing strategies to ensure BRONIEL’s consistent access to raw materials that meet our strict quality, volume, and sustainability standards. Additionally, you will identify and assess other potential value chains to strategically expand our product portfolio in response to evolving market demand.
  • Coordination and Reporting: Facilitating clear and timely communication between suppliers and BRONIEL’s commercial and quality assurance teams is essential. You will also prepare detailed reports on sourcing activities, value chain assessments, and supplier performance for management review.
  • Additional Duties: You will carry out other relevant assignments as directed by the Managing Director to support organizational growth.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Ideal candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Business Development, or a closely related field.
  • A strong, demonstrable understanding of agricultural value chains and raw material sourcing dynamics.
  • Prior experience working directly with farmers, cooperatives, or agricultural suppliers is a significant advantage.
  • Excellent research, verbal communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and proven project management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to work independently in remote field locations and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capacity to collect, interpret, and apply data for decision-making.
  • Willingness and readiness to travel extensively and work in field locations across sourcing regions.
  • Proficiency in speaking French and/or Ewe is a distinct advantage.
