About the Fellowship

This fellowship tackles New Haven’s persistent teacher shortage directly. Yale funds the program; SCSU awards the actual graduate degree. Fellows move gradually from observation to full teaching responsibility. A three-year service commitment follows graduation for Pipeline fellows.

What Fellows Receive

Both tracks receive full tuition toward their SCSU graduate degree. Pipeline fellows also get a $47,380 stipend during their first year. Fellows gain mentor-classroom time, then a full-time teaching residency. Ongoing mentorship continues throughout the required post-degree service period.

Who Can Apply

Pipeline applicants are college graduates without an existing teaching certificate. Current NHPS paraprofessionals are especially encouraged toward this track. The Current Teachers Track suits certified teachers seeking special education credentials. All fellows commit to three years of full-time NHPS-area service.

Required Materials

Applicants submit short-answer and essay responses, plus a resume. Transcripts from every college attended and one recommendation letter are required. International degree holders need a certified WES or ECE credential evaluation.

How to Apply

Complete the online fellowship application before January 1, 2027. Finalists must separately apply for admission to SCSU.
