Winter University Courses for International Students in Germany

University Winter Courses are possibilities for international students and recent graduates to study in Germany on scholarships that cover their entire tuition and living expenses. The candidate’s grasp of the German language, as well as their familiarity with German regional and cultural studies, will hopefully improve as a result of participation in this program.

The program provides financial assistance to students who wish to enroll in language classes and regional studies programs at German universities that are either state-run or state-recognized, as well as at connected language schools.

The Criteria for Eligibility

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet all of the following requirements in order to be considered for the Winter Scholarships for Foreign Students in Germany:

• Students, recent graduates, and those working toward their Ph.D. degrees in any field are eligible to submit an application.
• In order to be eligible for the scholarship, undergraduate students must already have a minimum of two years of school under their belts.
• Students who are currently enrolled in the final year of a degree program are eligible to apply if they plan to continue their education by enrolling in a postgraduate degree program immediately after completing their undergraduate degree. As a kind of verification, we ask that you send us a letter of confirmation from your school.

• One-time award payment of 2,151 euros for the scholarship

Document Requirements:

• The application form is available online
• A comprehensive curriculum vitae in tabular format (in German)
• A letter of intent to study (written in German)
• A copy of the student’s high school diploma, with grades (with either a German or an English translation), is required for undergraduate students.
• A copy of your most recent university degree certificate, along with a translation into German or English, is required for graduate students and candidates for the doctoral degree.
• Documentation proving completion of all required university examinations, including final results and an explanation of the grading method, written in either German or English. translation
• Certificates of proficiency in the target language (perhaps accompanied by a German or English translation)
• Other documents that you believe may be relevant to your application (for example, proof of placements or certificates of employment), as well as any other documents that you believe may be relevant.

About DAAD

Approximately 2.9 million scholars in Germany and abroad have received DAAD financing since its founding in 1925. German higher education institutions and student organizations make up its recognized membership. It does much more than only give grants and scholarships. More than 140,000 German and international academics received funding from the DAAD in 2022. The financing opportunities range from undergraduate study abroad programs to Ph.D. programs, from internships to guest lectureships, from information-gathering trips to helping to launch new universities abroad.

The money is decided upon by voluntary, independent selection committees. The DAAD Executive Committee appoints the members of the selection committee in accordance with specific hiring guidelines. The DAAD provides support for German higher education institutions worldwide endeavors through publications, marketing services, event staging, and training programs.

What do we do?

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is charged with a number of responsibilities, the most important of which are to award scholarships, promote the internationalization activities of German universities and research organizations, strengthen German cultural and language studies abroad, and assist developing countries in the establishment of productive higher education institutions.

Additionally, the DAAD serves as the National Agency for Higher Education Cooperation with the European Union.
