Position: Driver
Winrock International is a non-profit group that works with people all over the world to improve economic opportunities, protect the environment, and keep natural resources in good shape.
PROJECT SUMMARY
The Enabling Farmers for Agricultural Transformation (EFAT) Project, which is led by Winrock International and funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), improves agricultural extension and advisory services and systems (EAS) as a way to help smallholder farmers increase agricultural productivity, diversify their income sources, and become more resilient in the face of bad weather.
The Accelerated Dissemination of Soil Improvement Practices (ADSIP) Project is being run by Winrock International in Northern Ghana. The goals of ADSIP are to work with current projects and programs to speed up the spread of soil-improving techniques and make it easier for local service providers to use a variety of extension, advisory, and communication channels.
Duties
- Drive Winrock International workers, volunteers, and partners safely, following traffic laws and the program’s schedule and administrative rules.
- Mail, documents, and other things for the program are picked up and delivered on time.
- Take people on formal business trips and to work.
- Get consultants, volunteers, and official guests from the airport and make them feel welcome.
- Follow the Winrock International policy manual to the letter when driving the car.
- In charge of the vehicle’s papers and making sure they are in good shape.
- Do regular and preventive maintenance on the car and tell the administration about any major damage or mechanical problems.
- Always keep your car clean and in good shape.
- Keep track of your mileage and fuel every day and share any information about the vehicle’s maintenance.
- Check the trunk of the car.
- Check the vehicle and get it ready for tasks so that you can be ready on time.
- Prepare extra things for official trips, like gas, stickers, flags, tools, and an emergency kit.
- Help load and unload the car.
Skills or Experience Needed
- At least two years’ worth of experience as a driver
- A legal driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Secondary school is the bare minimum for schooling.
- Knowledge of NGOs and how they work, the ability to work as a team, and the ability to fix cars.
- Good at talking to people
- Punctuality Adaptability
- Good knowledge of the countryside
- Good speaking and writing skills; knowing English is a plus
- Excellent listening skills

- Responsible and with a strong sense of duty; able to adjust to living in country areas
- Flexible and willing to act.
- Constant availability
- able to work when things get tough
