POSITION: Lead Human Resources Business Partner

Summary

The WMF vision is to “imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.” The Lead Human Resources Business Partner (“HRBP”) will collaborate with HRBPs and across teams to develop, implement and align people processes and performance to drive continuous growth and knowledge sharing across the Foundation.

The Lead HRBP is an accomplished connector who collaborates, problem solves, and gets results, celebrating wins while learning from mistakes. The position requires a balance of strategic vision and tactical implementation, experience in the intersection of change management and international human resource development, serving as a consultant to employees on human resource-related issues.

This position will report to the VP, Talent, and Culture (“T&C”) and work in partnership with the HRBPs, People Experience Team, and the entire T&C staff to ensure support, alignment, and connection to Foundation’s T&C services and programs, as well as acting as an ambassador for the Foundation’s values and culture.

You are responsible for:

  • In collaboration with other HRBPs and T&C, implementing solutions to meet changing business and talent needs to support the Foundation and team objectives, proposing plans which build capability, and delivering against the strategic initiatives of T&C
  • Supporting the  talent review processes to recommend skill-building for an employee, team, or manager to achieve their goals
  • Organizational Development & Design: implementing solutions that improve employee engagement, retention, leadership development, org culture, and productivity
  • Employee Relations: working closely with staff to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention, including mediating complex staff issues with compassion, active listening, and understanding, while maintaining the confidentiality
  • Working with the Learning & Development team to identify training needs for teams and individuals to support staff to prioritize and implement best practices in their respective work areas

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field and 8+yrs human resources experience, or Master’s + 6 years related experience or equivalent experience/education
  • Experience in change management and human resources development, training and capacity development, as well as coaching and facilitating high performing teams
  • Experience working with diverse, multi-cultural teams, bonus points for international environments
  • Experience using data analytics platforms (Excel, Google Sheets) to inform storytelling and presentations
  • Strong collaborator – Ability to collaborate and operate in a “one team” environment across all levels of the organization
  • HR acumen – Familiar with the complete HR service portfolio including OD and talent management and able to effectively partner with other COE talent acquisition, total rewards, learning & development, people operations, and diversity & inclusion
  • Business acumen- Understand the organization’s business strategies and dynamically changing external business competition, conditions and trends. Translate this knowledge into appropriate management and HR actions
  • OD acumen: experience translating OD strategies into practical business applications at progressively increasing levels of scope and complexity.  
  • Partnering and influence – Present solutions in ways that are heard, understood, and supported. Add insight that positively influences senior management decision-making. Communicate with clarity, conviction, and confidence across regions/cultures, including upward when necessary
  • Personal credibility – Consistently offer quality advice, counsel, and insight. Maintain self-esteem and that of others while directly and constructively addressing issues. Create trust and mutual respect
  • The ability to maximize relationships, build trust and communicate effectively is required in order to analyze HR issues, provide information, direction, and advice as described
  • Proven employee relations experience with the ability to navigate sensitive, confidential matters  
  • Good technical knowledge of human resources and their role within the business
  • Possess strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to deal effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and management. Good analytical skills, problem-solving and decision-making skills are required to provide support as described
  • Excellent planning, time management, prioritization, and organizational skills. The ability to handle competing priorities calmly under pressure and within restricted timeframes is essential

Additionally, we’d love it if you have:

  • Non-profit experience
  • Tech industry experience
  • Experience with HR tools like Namely & Greenhouse and finance tools like Adaptive is a plus
