Ghanaian actor Mikki Osei Berko widely known as Dada Boat has disclosed some challenges he personally encountered at multimedia and has given his take on the current state of the entertainment industry.
In an interview on Kingdom 101.9FM with Fiifi Pratt, the actor said that most celebrities in the country are poor.
According to him, the celebrities are okay but things are not all that well financially as it should be.
Dada boat continued by saying that in Ghana here, there is no industry. He said we don’t give the predecessors the chance to teach the upcoming ones the way again which is very sad for the entertainment industry. The retired stars of music whose songs are still being played most made it through apprenticeship. He said that they learnt from their seniors and became better. He gave examples saying that Amakye Dede learnt from Akwasi Ampofo Agyei, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah learnt from Prince Osei Kofi and Prince Osei Kofi learnt from Nana Kwame Ampadu aka Mr only your voice so by the time they came out as musicians, they were very great as obviously seen till present.
Talking of Multimedia, Dada Boat lamented that he was kind of sacked after working for a period of 4 months. He said that he had a situation with his programs manager and that led to his dismissal.
The actor narrated that a production team is very keen to the success of every program but when he commenced work, there was no production team so he created one with the help of the late Fenec Okyere and some few people although there were few challenges.
He said the programs manager queried him for not editing a live speech. This matter led him to a board meeting where he was asked go go offline for a week after what transpired and later, he realized they had terminated his contract.
The actor stated that he ended up being disappointed after he left the United Kingdom to work with Multimedia after a successful interview with officials of the company.
