WHO IS CHAIRMAN STEPHEN NTIM?
INTRODUCTION
Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim is one of the lead contenders for the position of National Chairmanship of NPP. This is the fifth time Chairman Ntim is contesting for this position. For the past times he contested, he lost to his contenders.
In 2005, he lost to Mr. Peter Mav Manu, then in his second contest in 2010, he lost to the late Jake Okanta Obetsebi-Lamptey, while in his third attempt in 2014, he lost to Paul Afoko. On his fourth attempt in 2018, he lost to Freddie Blay.
Nonetheless, being the fifth time he is contesting and also fifth on the ballot sheet, Chairman Ntim, after the NPP General Elections at the Accra Sports Stadium was announced the winner of the NPP’S National Chairmanship race. He beat his closest contender, Stephen Asamoah Boateng by 4,014 votes which in percentage is 72%.
ACADEMIC BACKGROUND
Chairman Ntim completed his tertiary education at the University of Ghana and the University of Minnesota in the USA. He acquired a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and Linguistics and an MBA in Management Information Systems respectively. Additionally, he holds a Diplome Superieur d’Etudes Francaises from the Universite Nationale de la Cote d’Ivoire, in Abidjan.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Chairman Ntim began his profession at Electronic Data Systems in Michigan USA, working as a Systems Engineer. He worked for a period of 2 years from the year 1993 to 1995. He has also gained over 20 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, not only in the states but also in Ghana. Moreso he also served as a Programmer / Analyst at St. Paul Fire and Marine, also at Minnesota in the USA.
Furthermore, he has gained vast experience as he served several executives and corporate positions. Currently, he is the director of BINSCO Associates in Accra, and the Managing Director of a construction and engineering service company known as Espan Company Limited. He is also the Managing Director of a commercial printing firm at New Achimota in Accra, known as Detriot Computer Images.
Additionally, he is a Chairman of the Board of Trustees of an Accra-based NGO that preserves Ghanaian culture. The name of the NGO is Heritage Protection Foundation. He is also the Board Chairman of Aqua Drill Company Limited. In relation to social service, he is a member of the National Black MBA Association of the Minnesota Chapter in the USA.
CONCLUSION
Chairman Ntim has served NPP in various capacities. He has been a firm supporter as he was a member of the then Danquah -Busia Club in 1992 which transformed into NPP. Between 2001-2005, he serves as the National First Vice Chairman of the NPP. Since then, he has contested the Chairmanship position without success.
However, 2022 is a winning year for him as he wins the National Chairmanship race. With elation for his victory, Chairman Ntim delivers a speech and thanks his family, the campaign team, and the delegates for their unflinching support. He said, “I am going to cherish the Chairmanship position and I’ll make sure that it will be an enviable position.”
