What to know before you take an aeroplane for the first time

1 . Check the airline’s luggage requirements.

You will need to familiarize yourself with every requirement of the airline you intend to use.

2 . Pack essentials in your carry-on.

Know what you will need and when you will need them. For instance, if you are asthmatic you will have to carry your inhaler with you and not in your luggage.

3 . Arrive at the airport two hours early.

Due to climate and weather conditions, there might be early flights or delayed ones. It will be necessary to be at the airport two hours prior to your departure time.

3 . Keep your ID handy together with other essential documents

There is no point in putting such documents in your luggage when there could easily be a need for them. It will be better to carry them in your handbags and bag packs.

4 . Wear easy-to-remove shoes.

Make sure your boots or whatever shoes you find comfortable are easy to remove when the need arises.

5 . Respect other passengers’ space.

Everyone has rights and you must respect them. Respect is reciprocal, doing it for someone will come back to you when you least expect it. Though you would want to entertain yourself, ensure it is not infringing on the rights and peace of others.

6 . Have a backup plan ready.

Due to weather conditions and some unforeseen circumstances, always have a backup plan. Traveling without a backup plan will leave you stranded and probably dejected.

8 . Take along some in-flight accessories

In-flight accessories will make the difference. Bring a travel pillow, sleep mask, blanket, earplugs, or whatever you need to stay comfortable. These will keep you comfortable especially if your flight is long enough.

9 . Bring your own entertainment

Have a playlist of your own to help keep you company. Take a book or device to watch your favorite shows and videos on. Some of the flights are long enough for you to get bored what will keep you going is an in-flight entertainment system.

10 . Consider the climate of where you are flying to

For most people living in Africa, especially in the sub-Sahara regions, we experience hush weather conditions. This doesn’t mean other countries have our kind of climate change. Be sure to know where you are traveling to their climate changes and know how to dress to suit it.

11 . Exchange currency beforehand or online

Every country has its own currencies, although some may share the same one. It is important. to exchange monies into that if the country you are visiting in order not to get stranded.

12 . Don’t panic over the security procedures

With the rampant growth of drug trafficking and other incriminating activities, security checks may seem overboard. But most importantly you have nothing to worry about especially if you are clean.
