POSITION: Strategy and Business Planning Officer

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and energetic professional to join the Business Development team.
Job Description
As a Strategy and Business Planning Officer at WALTERGATES Ghana Ltd, you will be responsible for driving the company’s growth and development. You will be a member of the Business Development Team and will report to the Head of Business Development.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional departments such as IT, training, and customer relations. Your primary role will be to create strategic business plans and efforts to help our company accomplish its goals.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed business plans and presentations to share strategy and activities with top management and stakeholders.
- Keep up with industry trends and best practices to keep our organization competitive and inventive.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to gain an understanding of current and potential businesses (including products/services, consumers, competitors, the entire market, and trends).
- Understand how significant stakeholders think about near-term growth, both generally and in relation to specific growth efforts.
- Create a complete financial analysis that includes all assumptions, drivers, and financial statements for the next three to five years, accounting for a cautious, base, and aggressive case, as well as predictions to help with corporate decision-making and resource allocation.
- Create strategic plans and activities to accelerate corporate growth and market share.
- Conduct a total addressable market study for the business’ primary markets, identify major industry changes affecting the firm, and outline how these trends may affect the business.
- Review research reports and perform primary research to identify the ideal buyer/investor type and assess customer demand for the company’s existing products and services.
- Identify direct and indirect competitors, including prospective future competitors, for current and potential revenue channels.
- Create a go-to-market strategy, which includes testing prospective marketing channels (if applicable).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure strategic objectives are aligned and executed.
- Monitor and assess the performance of existing company strategy, making recommendations for enhancements or revisions as warranted.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or a similar analytical subject is desirable.
- At least two years of relevant experience in a related role or position.
- Financial management skills in planning, forecasting, and business analysis is preferred; experience at an early-stage company and successful grant funding applications are also advantageous.
- Advanced Excel skills. 2+ years of practical expertise using Excel for designing and managing financial models.
- Proficient in analytical and presentation tools such as Excel pivot tables, SQL queries, graphing, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with market research, including analyzing and synthesizing research reports and conducting primary research.
- Proven track record of creating and executing successful strategic projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the ability to convert data into practical insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively convey complicated ideas.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage many projects while meeting tight deadlines.
- Strong leadership abilities are required, as is the ability to influence and interact with cross-functional teams.
- The ability to speak and write French Fluency is a huge benefit.
