Duties of Vehicle Technician Jobs in the UK

The Vehicle Technician role at South Western Ambulance Service allows you to be a part of a professional, friendly team that works in a Fleet Workshop to ensure the highest standards for our equipment and vehicles. It also allows you to advance your career with us in a variety of support and patient-facing roles, either within the Fleet and Equipment team or throughout the entire trust.

You will provide high-quality service, maintenance, and repairs on automobiles and equipment in accordance with the trust’s and manufacturer’s schedules, completing all work carefully and effectively. You will accurately document the diagnosis, repair completed, and parts used in line with the manufacturer’s and trust’s specifications.

In compliance with the trust’s health and safety policy, you will help to keep work environments orderly, clean, and risk-free. When necessary, you will be able to work both independently and collectively. You will also grasp the importance and repercussions of maintaining high work and satisfaction standards throughout the trust to ensure that they are constantly met. Education and Qualifications

Requirements for this position include;

Essential

  • An HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering, or similar experience and training. Accredited Motor Vehicle Apprenticeship or Training Program with Indenture.
  • Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Motor Vehicle Craft Studies, or Parts 1, 2, and 3 of Motor Vehicle Technicians, or BTEC equivalent.
  • Valid driving license as of now.

Desirable:

  • Eligible for C1E+D1E driving license.

Previous experience (paid or unpaid, relevant to the position).

  • Proficient in diagnosing and finding issues in automotive, electronic, mechanical, and technical domains.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools to find issues with medical devices and equipment.
  • Prior experience conducting technical and engineering repairs using a variety of advanced tools and equipment
  • Desirable qualifications include a significant understanding of medical equipment maintenance and repair, as well as prior supervisory or managerial experience diagnosing and repairing vehicles.
  • Expertise and experience with quality management systems such as ISO 13485:2012 and ISO 9001:2000.
  • Has the ability to demonstrate prior experience diagnosing and finding problems in an
  • NHS or ambulance service setting.
