Responsibilities of Fellows

This fully funded, yearlong fellowship propels graduating maths majors onto MoMath’s dynamic exhibit floor, where enthusiasm combines with education. Exponent Fellows are expected to:

  • Involve the public as mathematical guides, turning intricate ideas into enlightening “aha!” experiences for guests of all ages.
  • Enhance Communication & Outreach Abilities via practical programming and public speaking.
  • Broaden their mathematical perspectives by collaborating directly with esteemed visiting professors and the senior leadership at MoMath.
  • Create and implement a Distinctive Project that highlights individual creativity and mathematical understanding.

The overall compensation is around $52,000, including a $5,000 bonus granted to fellows who complete the year.

Eligibility Requirements

Who Are We Seeking

  • Preferred candidates will have—or be on the verge of obtaining—a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a GPA of 3.5 or above, and demonstrate:
  • An innate talent for interacting with others and engaging with the public.
  • The innovation is to showcase mathematics in new, unforgettable ways.
  • A demonstrated work ethic, whether in education, internships, or other job positions.
  • U.S. work permit valid for 14 months (sponsorship not provided).

Required Documents

  • A letter of application detailing how you fulfill the fellowship’s requirements.
  • Updated CV featuring GPA.
  • Single-Page Reflection on your personal relationship with mathematics (a significant experience, a cherished theorem, etc.).
  • Three reference letters are required, comprising two from mathematics professors at college and one from a recent supervisor, to be sent directly by your recommenders to the same email.
