ABOUT ACF
The Société Culinaire Philanthropique, the Vatel Club, and the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America are the three chefs’ groups that formed the American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), a professional association for chefs and cooks, in 1929 in New York City.
Our main objectives haven’t altered much since we started. Our organization is dedicated to educating chefs at all levels in order to promote the professional image of American cooks around the world.
When the executive chef’s title was moved from service status to the professional category in the US Department of Labor’s Dictionary of Official Titles in 1976, ACF fundamentally altered the culinary business. Both our organization and the culinary business have expanded greatly since this change.
Currently, ACF stands as the biggest association for professional cooks in North America. We are comprised of over 14,000 members from over 170 chapters spread across four U.S. regions. ACF is the industry leader in providing apprenticeships, competitions, programmatic accreditation, instructional materials, and training to advance the professional development of all chefs and pastry chefs, past and present.
Furthermore, ACF runs the world’s most extensive culinary certification program. The official representative of the United States in significant international contests, ACF Culinary Team USA, is based at ACF.
In addition, we provide print and digital publications, local and national events, and much more to support the development of professional chefs and the food service sector. We extend an invitation to you, if you are not already a member, to become one so that you can utilize the greatest culinary resources out there.

Obtain Program Acknowledgment
ACFEF accreditation verifies your post-secondary and secondary programs’ eligibility for federal funding. With ACF’s authorized status, you may add value and confirm that your training program or credential satisfies industry standards. By providing CEHs, you can raise awareness of and participation in your courses and activities.
