US Embassy Ghana Invites Job Applications

The U.S. Mission in Accra, Ghana, is looking for people who are qualified and eligible for the position of Administrative Clerk.

Under the direction of the Assistant Community Liaison Officer (CLO), the person in this position provides administrative support to the Community Liaison Office by greeting office visitors, answering phones, and responding to routine correspondence. They also help the CLO make and keep key contacts and manage information that is good for the mission’s morale and well-being. S/he helps with the 8 responsibilities of the CLO, with a focus on Event Planning, Community Liaison, Welcome and Orientation, Guidance and Referral, Information and Resource Management, and Education Liaison, to help a community of about 400 USDH employees and their families.

Evaluations and Qualifications Requirements:

Experience:

  • At least two years of experience as a secretary or in office work is needed.

Job Knowledge:

  • The person in this position needs to know a lot about the Greater Accra area, including cultural sites and events, historical context, and interesting places.
  • The job must be able to make a lot of connections with local agencies, vendors, and commercial businesses in the private sector so that CLOs can connect with local interests.

Education Requirements:

You must have at least a high school diploma or the equivalent (WASSCE equivalence)

Evaluations:

Language: Level 4: Fluent in written and spoken English and at least one (1) local language of Ghana.

Qualifications:

All applicants who want to be considered will have to pass medical and security tests.

Skills And Abilities:

  • Good at talking to people. Good organizational skills, the ability to pay close attention to details, the ability to do more than one thing at a time, and the initiative to do what needs to be done without much supervision.
  • Be able to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Power Point), Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet on a computer.
  • Ability to write simple office letters, use good judgment when doing office work, and give good customer service. Grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills in English.
  • The position calls for 40WPM typing speed.
