UPDATE ON GREEN CARD BACKLOG APRIL 2023 & NEW NVC INTERVIEW SCHEDULES
In April 2023, the backlog for green cards reduce by 4%. According to the Department of State’s National Visa Center, pending immigrant visa cases decreased by 4.3% from 370,125 in February to 354,973 in April.
There was a modest decline in the number of green card candidates whose cases were deemed documentarily ready and available for interview scheduling. from 396,777 in April to 409,021 in February.
Presenting all the necessary paperwork for approval by the NVC qualifies a case as “documentarily complete”. These cases remain eligible for interview scheduling.
There exists a slight increase in the number of applicants scheduled for green card interviews. In April, the NVC organized 41,904 interviews, up from 38,896 in February. However, NVC is currently working on all submitted green card applications.
The NVC hopes to eliminate all backlogs in the processing of accepted green card applications, set up interviews, and finally issue green cards to qualified candidates.
