University of Rochester admissions without application fee for 2024–25

The University of Rochester is dedicated to lowering obstacles for applicants who are unable to pay the application fee due to their financial situation.  This Application Cost Waiver Request Form must be filled out if your family cannot pay the application fee.

First-year and transfer students, as well as those from other countries, should fill out this form. By filling out this form, the University of Rochester’s Office of Admissions grants you instant clearance. Thus, a corroborating document from a third party—a counselor, for instance—is not required.

Concerning the University of Rochester

One of the most prestigious educational institutions for research in the world, the University of Rochester has a long history of pushing and questioning established norms, as well as learning and unlearning. Requirements for Scholarship Qualifications

Deadline to apply for returning students

We distinguish between two forms of financial help, like many other colleges and universities: need-based support and merit-based support. Both forms of aid are frequently included in a financial aid offer from the university.

Aid based on merit:

  • Is given out as scholarships
  • Given out by Engineering, Science, and Arts
  • Yearly automatic reapplication for your financial aid package

Aid based on need:

  • Is available as loans, grants, work study, etc.
  • Given out by the Office of Financial Aid
  • Since your family’s financial condition may change, you must reapply every year.

You ought to be aware of:

  • Each application is examined separately, taking into account not just the family income but also assets, family size, and the number of students enrolled in college.
  • Merit-based aid is awarded to families irrespective of their proven financial need.
  • Rochester utilizes an institutional methodology (IM), similar to the majority of private universities, to determine an expected family contribution (EFC).
  • Shortly after receiving their admission notification, students who submit all of their application materials on schedule and are accepted into the university will get a financial assistance award letter. Remember to keep watch of deadlines, as late applicants could not get their award letter until after the May 1 deposit deadline.

Scholarships on merit (merit-based aid)

  • Merit-based scholarships are given by the University of Rochester to first-year and transfer students who, despite their financial situation, exhibit exceptional academic success and promise.
  • The annual amount of merit scholarships ranges from $2,000 to full tuition.
  • The college offers merit grants to all accepted undergraduate applicants.
  • Students who demonstrate academic excellence and retain full-time status are eligible to apply for merit scholarships, which are granted during the admissions process and are renewed annually.
  • A student may only be awarded one scholarship.

If you are eligible for tuition assistance at the University of Rochester:

  • You can be qualified for dependent child tuition benefits if at least one of your parents works for the University of Rochester. You might be qualified to receive a combination of tuition benefits and scholarship funds that can approach or match, but not exceed, the cost of tuition because both can only help with the cost of tuition.
  • It is our policy for merit scholarships to be applied to your bill after tuition benefits. Scholarship money and tuition advantages from the University of Rochester are not transferable to non-tuition costs like housing and food services.
