    UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA William Muir Edwards Citizenship Award 2023

    The William Muir Edwards Citizenship Award, which bears the name of the founding dean of the Faculty of Engineering, honors undergraduate engineering students who have made outstanding contributions to society. It’s a celebration of civic engagement and of engineering students that go above and beyond to improve the world.

    A diverse committee comprised of teachers, employees, alumni, and business partners must first propose to students before choosing the winners. Up to five students might be honored with $10,000 awards and induction into the William Muir Edwards Society.

    Eligibility

    • Enrolled full-time in an engineering undergraduate program at the University of Alberta.
    • Returning to the Faculty of Engineering to pursue undergraduate studies full-time (students currently in their final year of study are not eligible).
    • Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA over the preceding two academic terms with a full course load.
    • These awards are available to co-op students.
    • Are qualified to receive the award’s full value, if chosen.
    • Possess Canadian citizenship or be a Canadian permanent resident.

    How To Apply?

    By submitting an application to Bear Tracks’ Undergraduate & Graduating Scholarship Competition.

    You’ll need to include a reference’s contact information. Make sure to pick someone who can discuss one or more of the topics you have included in your scholarship application from personal experience.

    Evaluation Standards

    Examining criteria for students include:

    • Volunteering, giving, and initiatives that strive to improve the world, both on and off campus. This is not just applicable to technical and engineering endeavors. We want to learn about all the wonderful things that our students accomplish.
    • Citizenship as its whole.
    • Influence of citizenship

    Please be aware that only current contributions and activities will be taken into account; contributions made as part of a paid position will not be. While past activities can be described in detail, references, nominees, and students must be able to show that the student is presently actively participating in citizenship.

    Description Of Citizenship.

    According to us, citizenship entails putting others before oneself and trying to improve the world. This can be observed through volunteerism or through efforts made in a variety of ways that have a good impact on society.
