United Nations Youth Townhall in Germany 2026 (Fully Funded)
The United Nations Youth Office invites young changemakers worldwide to apply for the first-ever UN Youth Townhall, taking place from 8–10 December 2026 in Heidelberg, Germany. This landmark event will bring together over 1,000 participants, including young leaders, government representatives, UN officials, civil society organisations, entrepreneurs, and researchers. The Townhall serves as a flagship initiative of the UN Youth Compass, building on the UN Youth Strategy (Youth2030), the Pact for the Future, and commitments to meaningful youth engagement.
What the Programme Offers
Selected participants receive comprehensive support to attend this historic gathering. The UN Youth Office provides round-trip airfare from your country of residence to Heidelberg, terminal expenses for airport transportation, and a daily subsistence allowance based on fixed UN rates. Additionally, you receive reimbursement of visa fees after submitting receipts, an official invitation letter to support visa processing, and reasonable accommodations for participants with disabilities. Preparatory information and event materials help you prepare effectively for meaningful participation.
What You Will Experience
The Townhall goes beyond dialogue by seeking to generate concrete recommendations, partnerships, and opportunities for action. You will engage through intergenerational dialogues, fireside chats, roundtable discussions, and small-group sessions. The programme focuses on three core objectives: strengthening inclusion and diversity in youth participation, reducing fragmentation across the global youth ecosystem, and creating a collective path toward actionable commitments on youth priorities.
Who Can Apply
To qualify for funded participation, you must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of the event and actively engaged in grassroots, local, national, regional, or global youth-led initiatives, projects, or movements. You should be comfortable engaging in English and available to participate in all Townhall days and preparatory meetings. Selection considers gender balance, geographical representation, and inclusion of young people from underrepresented and marginalised communities. Preference goes to applicants engaged with grassroots organisations who have had limited prior engagement with the UN.
How to Apply
Submit your application through the UN Youth Office’s official portal. The application form typically takes 30–45 minutes to complete. Deadline for applications is 7 September 2026. Successful applicants will be contacted directly by the UN Youth Office. This opportunity offers exceptional value for young leaders passionate about shaping global youth policy and building international partnerships.
