Underground Blastman at Golden Star (Wassa) Limited

Main Duties：

In order to follow GSR policy and procedures on pre-start checks and other basic safety and environmental management systems and standards, the person in charge will be responsible for:

• Handle and move explosives in a safe way that follows standard processes.
• Charge holes that go up, holes that go down, and growth drives.
• Charge up and fire the stope blasts as planned.
• Make sure that all legal requirements for the mining activity are met in full accordance with the Mining Act and other related Republic of Ghana rules.
• Make sure the working area is safe for both people and tools to use.
• Must be familiar with the ventilation circuit, firing process, including electric firing, and re-entry procedures.
• Prepare reports and finish all paperwork for loading and blasting at the end of your shift.
• Do anything else that the boss tells you to do.

Needed Qualifications and Experience:

• At least JHS, MSLC, or SHS.
• At least five years of experience working as a Blastman
• Good computer skills, including knowing how to use Power Point, Word, Excel, and other programs.
• Certification from MinCom in Blasting
• Must have a current Ghanaian Class B or better driver’s license.

Ability and Skill：

• Good at getting along with other people and working well in a team.
• Good at making plans and giving talks.
• Ability to work with people who are smart in different ways.
• Ability to read, analyze, and understand documents like safety rules, directions for operating and maintaining equipment, and procedure manuals.
• Must act quickly and pay close attention to the details.
• Show that you are very concerned about safety.
• Must be able to work different shifts, including night shifts, and be able to adapt.
