UK TRAVEL ALERT: HEATHROW SECURITY STAFF AND PASSPORT WORKERS ANNOUNCE MAY STRIKE
Workers strike at Heathrow Airport to escalate further over pay dispute. Workers at Heathrow Airport plan to take industrial action again over pay disputes, as described grossly in this article.
Individuals planning to visit the UK anytime soon need to take very good notice of this.
The Unite General Secretary has advised people to expect disruptions throughout the summer. After the security staff’s strike in May, chaos is anticipated at Heathrow Airport. It’s interesting to see that the strikes will last for eight days during the busiest coronation days and times for family vacations.
According to Unites’ announcement, the security staff at Heathrow Airport plans to go on strike for eight days next month. This is because of disruptions over their pay scales. The strike of union members will take place on 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 25, 26, and 27 of May.
Unite Notion towards the Strike
Unite claims the strike will lead to massive delays and disruptions for people coming to the UK for the King’s coronation. Remember that during Easter, nearly 1,400 security officers were on a 10-day strike over the same issue.
Unite General Secretary Sharom Graham believes that the chief executive’s only interest lies in boosting his earning without giving his workers a raise.
She continued by saying that when more workers cast ballots in the pay issue, strikes would take place all summer long.
However, a representative for Heathrow claimed that business as usual continued for the first 10 days of Unites’ most recent unsuccessful strike. Nonetheless, it won’t differ this time either. The spoke person said that Unite won’t cause disruptions for visitors to the UK, especially during such a crucial time for the country.
