Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Commonwealth Caribbean Rhodes Scholarship, you need to satisfy these requirements:

Citizenship: 

  • Be a national of a qualifying Commonwealth Caribbean country (refer to the list above)
  • Become a citizen of the Commonwealth Dependent Territories, such as Anguilla, BVI, Cayman Islands, Montserrat, or Turks and Caicos.

Education: 

  • Have finished at least five years of schooling in one or more qualifying Caribbean regions from 9 to 20.

Age: 

  • Must be between 18 and 23 years old by 1 October 2025 (born from 2 October 2001 to 1 October 2007), or
  • Be younger than 27 by 1 October 2025 (born on or after 1 October 1998) if your initial undergraduate degree was finished after 1 October 2024.

Academic Excellence: 

  • Must finish a Bachelor’s degree by July 2026.
  • A GPA of 3.70/4.0 or its equivalent is highly advised.
  • Must fulfill Oxford’s particular academic criteria for courses

English Language:

If English is not your native language, you need to satisfy Oxford’s advanced English proficiency standards.

Subjects Offered at Oxford 

  • All full-time postgraduate programs (MSc, MPhil, DPhil) that last for a minimum of two academic years.
  • Choice to seek a Second BA with Senior Status
  • Select two course options while applying (primary and secondary).

Timeline for Applications 

The application timeframe for the Rhodes Scholarship 2025 for the Commonwealth Caribbean begins on Monday, 2 June 2025, and ends at 23:59 AST on Friday, 19 September 2025. All citations should also be turned in by this due date.

Dates for Final Selection: 

  • Interviews and Community Involvement: 10–11 November 2025 (face-to-face, in Barbados)
  • Finalists coming from outside Barbados will be provided with financial assistance for travel (unless your institution has already covered these costs).
  • Notification of Results: All candidates will be notified of the results by December 2025.
