The University of Global Health Equity (UGHE) has officially opened applications for its Masters in Global Nursing Leadership (MGNL) Program for the Class of 2027. This pioneering two-year graduate program is designed specifically for licensed nurses who aspire to become influential leaders in global health.

The MGNL Program focuses on equipping nurses with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to drive health equity and innovation in healthcare systems worldwide. Through a comprehensive curriculum, participants will explore various aspects of healthcare leadership, policy-making, and the social determinants of health.

The program emphasizes critical thinking, collaboration, and advocacy, empowering nurses to address pressing health challenges within their communities and beyond. Graduates will be prepared to take on leadership roles that promote fairness in healthcare access, quality, and outcomes.

Program Summary 

The MGNL is a two (2)-year graduate program offered by UGHE’s Center for Nursing and Midwifery. It aims to provide seasoned registered nurses with the expertise and leadership abilities required to address worldwide health issues and lessen disparities in health systems. The program integrates 80% online teaching with face-to-face education at UGHE’s Butaro campus in Rwanda, ensuring it is available to global candidates.

Scholarship Financial Package

Chosen applicants will get a full scholarship that covers tuition only, and furthermore, UGHE provides:

  • Housing and meals on campus
  • Expenses related to academics (e.g., excursions)
  • Transportation to and from UGHE’s Butaro campus for face-to-face sessions.
  • Costs of visas and international travel
  • Accommodation and dining outside UGHE campus
  • Personal belongings, grooming products, and online connectivity.

Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must fulfill both UGHE graduate admission criteria and the particular requirements for MGNL:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a recognized institution.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience as a licensed nurse
  • Currently working and hold a non-restricted RN license.
  • A letter of support from the current employer.
  • Two references from professionals
  • A comprehensive curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A purpose statement emphasizing passion for nursing leadership
  • Certified duplicates of educational qualifications
  • Proficiency in the English language
  • Achieving a passing score on the entrance exam and interview.
  • International students must obtain an HEC equivalency certificate in Rwanda.

Application Deadline

The final deadline to submit applications for the Masters in Global Nursing Leadership (MGNL) Program – Class of 2027 is 22 April 2025 at 5:00 PM CAT. The final decisions for admissions will be revealed in early July 2025.
