Job Title: Communications Lead

The Ghana communications team at Tullow Oil is offering an interesting job. The new role is Communications Lead, and it is a full-time job with flexible hours based in Accra, Ghana.
Job Purpose
To plan and implement TGL’s communications strategies in a way that helps the company reach its goals and improves its image. Will involve taking charge of both internal and external media projects.
Responsibilities

Communications and Relations with the Media
- Lead the creation and implementation of a full Communications, Public Relations, and Media plan that helps TGL reach its goals and improves its reputation.
- Manage all internal and external interactions, such as those with the media, the public, investors, and your own employees.
- Develop and manage connections with key stakeholders, such as journalists, media analysts, influencers, and other media groups.
- Serve as a company spokesperson when the media calls or wants to talk to you.
- Create and keep up with a plan and procedures for communicating during a crisis.
- Create and use a strategy for communicating with workers that keeps them informed and interested.
- Give the External Affairs Manager and other business managers advice on how to improve TGL’s image through good communication.
- Manage the communication team well so that the communication plans can be carried out.
- Work with cross-functional teams in Ghana and across all of Tullow’s businesses to make sure that messages are consistent and that strategies that improve the company’s reputation are carried out.
- Work closely with the Tullow group communications team to implement the company’s communication objectives for Ghana.
- Manage how well business events are put on.
- Manage and keep an eye on TGL’s deals with media companies.
- Manage Tullow’s messaging risk in a good way.
Relations with Investors
- Help the Tullow Group Investor Relations team in Ghana do what investors want.
- Manage how TGL talks to and interacts with the investor community.
- Help Tullow Group meet its obligations in Ghana to follow the rules.
Knowledge/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a similar field, with at least a 1st Class or 2nd Upper.
- An appropriate master’s degree.
- A journalism certificate will be a plus.
Skills and work experience
- At least ten years of experience in business marketing.
- Experience working with media experts and other important people.
- Excellent speaking skills both in writing and in person.
- Know how to handle dialogue in a crisis.
- The ability to think creatively and intelligently.
- Expertise in giving talks and writing reports.
- Demonstrable editorial opinion.
- High skills in organizing and putting things together
- Known for writing several books
- Knowledge of how to use social media sites for business communications.
