Tired of Your Instagram Name? Here’s How to Change It
There is a difference between your username and your display name. Unlike other platforms, Instagram is a username free-for-all. You can change your Instagram handle as and when you want. As many times as you possible within certain limits. It needs to be unique to you. Your username can contain letters, emojis, and special characters.
With Instagram, your username can be changed up to two times within 14 days. You can alter the name if you are still not satisfied with it after 14 days. The change is only affected if it hasn’t been claimed by another. The username appears at the top of your profile and at the end of your profile’s URL. It is subjected to more restrictions.

PROCEDURE
- Log into your account to be able to update your profile information.
- Your profile information includes your name, username, and email address associated with the account. Then follow these steps;
STEPS
- Firstly, Log in to your Instagram account on the iOS or Android phone.
- If you have more than one account, choose the preferred one you want to change.
- Afterward, Go to your profile.
- Then, Tap your profile icon in the bottom-right corner.
- Next, Tap Edit Profile.
- Also, Tap the Username field and type in your new handle
- Tap the blue checkmark in the upper right corner.
- If you want to change your display name, type in the Name field instead.
- Then tap Submit.
Keep in mind that if your account reaches a lot of people, your username change may need to be reviewed. Some profile information isn’t visible to anyone but you. This includes your email address, phone number, and gender.
