Who is Thomas Partey

Thomas Teye Partey (born 13 June 1993) is a Ghanaian professional footballer. He is a midfielder and deputy captain of the Black Stars of Ghana. He plays as a midfielder for Premier League club Arsenal and the Ghana national team.

Career

Partey began his professional career at the Spanish club Atlético Madrid in 2013, going on loan to Mallorca and Almería. He returned to Atlético in 2015, where he won the UEFA Europa League as well as UEFA Super Cup in 2018. In 2020, he joined Arsenal in a transfer worth £45 million (€50 million), becoming the most expensive Ghanaian player of all time.

Thomas Partey has resumed training with English outfit Arsenal ahead of the looming 2022-23 season. The 28-year-old midfield kingpin sustained an injury that forcefully ended his season. But he appears to be fighting fit and primed for the new season which kicks start on August 5. Also, reports emerged last week that Partey was embroiled in an alleged rape scandal in the UK.

He subsequently missed out on their pre-season game against Nuremberg on Friday.
It later emerged that prosecutors could not adduce sufficient evidence against the Player and hence the charges were dropped.

Sources have said that the allegations were cooked by the footballer’s Moroccan girlfriend following some differences between the two.

In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Partey was fully kitted in Arsenal’s training gear. Thomas Partey was among Arsenal’s first-team players to begin preseason preparations for the upcoming. His injury affected the Champions League hopes. Hence, he would hope to have a clean bill of health for the upcoming season as Arsenal chase the top four places.

Journey In Arsenal

Partey and his teammates will begin preseason preparations for the new season against Bundesliga II side FC Nürnberg. The Gunners will also test their might against fellow Premier League rivals, Everton, before playing against Orlando City and Chelsea in the Florida Cup.

Arsenal will wrap up the preseason with a tie against Sevilla in the annual Emirates Cup.
Partey’s Arsenal will commence their campaign against London rivals Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Friday, August 5.

Partey rues Champions League disappointment.
