The process after receiving a PGP 2023 invitation | Canada Immigration Guide

Those who wish to sponsor their parents or grandparents must follow a certain procedure after they have been extended an invitation to the PGP 2023 program. The Parents and Grandparents Program for 2023 is currently accepting applications, and the application period has already begun. The IRCC has started sending applicants letters with instructions on how to begin the sponsorship application process for their parents and grandparents.

The steps to take after receiving an invitation to the PGP 2023

Individuals who have previously been sent an email on the sponsorship of their parents and grandparents are required to file a comprehensive application for permanent residency online through the appropriate government portal. The primary applicant will either be the individual themselves, or else the individual’s parents and grandparents. Therefore, the individual must submit the application, or the parent and grandparent must do so together if the individual is the primary applicant. It is also possible that a different authoritative person will be representing them and the application in their place.

For example, if another authority person is applying on behalf of the major applicant, then that representative must do so using their very own account in the person’s Residence Portal.

They have until the 22nd of December 2023, at the absolute latest, to submit their application to the IRCC. It is imperative that individuals avoid submitting applications that are either late or incomplete. It is possible for the individuals, their parents and grandparents, or the authority representative to apply through the alternative form of application in the event that they are unable to apply online.

Instructions to ensure that your application is submitted in its entirety

Individuals who will be aligning the information (provided during their expression of interest to the sponsor) with the application will receive an email from IRCC containing a barcode. They are required to upload a digital copy of the page that was discussed earlier in the “additional supporting documents” section of the application. They are required to upload the copy into the portal by utilizing the “other” document name.

The following items are mandatory for applicants to bear in mind in order to guarantee that their applications are complete:

  • Make sure that they follow each and every one of the directions that are included in the application guide.
  • It is required that the information they provided in the form indicating their interest in being a sponsor coincide with the information provided in their sponsorship application. In addition to this, they are required to provide a duplicate that is identical to the paperwork that confirms their status in Canada.
  • Due to the fact that IRCC would only accept payments made online, they must have paid the costs through the website. In addition to paying the required amount, applicants are required to provide documentation that they have done so. In the event that they do not provide proof of payment, their application will be considered incomplete. The IRCC does not accept applications that are incomplete and will not handle those applications.
  • It is incumbent upon applicants to determine in advance whether or not they will be required to submit their biometrics. If the answer is affirmative, then they will also need to pay the application fee before they can submit their biometric information.
  • Your submission of your Social Security Number is required as the following step in the process. On the other hand, they are required to give their permission to use the IMM 5768 form. Because of this, the IRCC will be able to collect from the Canada Revenue Agency information pertaining to the individual’s personal income tax. As a consequence of this, it will be able to determine whether or not the applicants have sufficient income for the position.
  • On the other hand, applicants who are hesitant to submit their SIN and consent are required to ensure that the IMM 5748 form is submitted. It is the form that must be filled out in order to be considered a Source for the Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents. In addition, they are required to provide Notices of Assessment for tax years 2020, 2021, and 2022 that were issued by the CRA.
  • They will access the “my account” digital service offered by the CRA in order to obtain their personal tax information.

MNI requirements

If it is necessary, the applicant sponsor and the co-signer will be expected to meet the Minimum Necessary Income criteria for each of the three years that immediately follow the date on which the application was submitted. During the PGP 2023 intake, the IRCC will be able to examine the sponsors with reference to the tax years 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The income requirement for the next tax years of 2020 and 2021 is in accordance with the requirement for the Minimum Necessary Income. The MNI turns out to be an essential component for the PGP 2023 since it provides evidence that the sponsor is able to provide financial assistance to people who they would like to invite to Canada utilizing the PGP.
