The 5 most influential Africans
For most people, there has been a general perception that nothing good can come from Africa. People from the developed world associate Africa with poverty, famine, war, terrorism, and diseases. Due to this stereotypical mindset, the world is being denied an opportunity to explore the hidden potentials on the continent.
However, the narrative is changing because Africans both at home and abroad are doing great things to make the world a better place. These are some of the influential Africans in the world.
1 . To begin with, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO)

Ngozi is the first woman and first African to lead the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Dr. Iweala is a Nigerian who was born in Delta state. She is a global finance expert and has a lot of experience in Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, as well as North America.
Apart from being the Director-General of WTO, she sits on boards of Standard Chartered Bank, Danone, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and Twitter. She had her basic and secondary education in Nigeria. She later studied Economics at Havard and earned her Ph.D. in Economics & Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also, she has served twice as the Minister of Finance for Nigeria.
2 . Secondly, Winnie Byanyima: UNAIDS Executive Director

Mrs. Byanyima is the Executive Director of the United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS). She is also the Undersecretary of the United Nations.
She was appointed in November 2019. Before her appointment, she was the executive director of Oxfam International, a confederation of 20 civil society organizations that empower people to create a secured future free from poverty.
She had her secondary school in Uganda and later furthered her education at the University of Manchester where she became the first woman in Uganda to study aeronautical engineering
3 . Thirdly, Aliko Dangote

He is the richest black man in the world with an estimated net worth of USD 14.9 billion. He has a conglomerate that deals in the production of sugar, flour, and cement. His latest project is a $10.5bn oil refinery that will be Africa’s largest. Also, he is investing in the manufacturing sector of the continent.
4 . Also, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO)

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is an Ethiopian researcher and the Director General of the World Health Organisation he is the first African to take this position. Dr. Tedros attended the University of Asmara where he earned a Bachelor of Biology, before earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Immunology of Infectious Diseases from the University of London. He has been very instrumental during the fight against ebola and the coronavirus pandemic.
5 . Lastly, Tony Elumelu

Tony is a Nigerian philanthropist, entrepreneur, and Economist. He is one person who seeks to empower the African youth to achieve their dreams. He has coached many entrepreneurs to maximize their potential.
