Taiwan Government Global Fellowship 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has recently announced that applications for the prestigious Taiwan Fellowship 2025 will be open from May 1 to July 30, 2025. About the Taiwan Fellowship
The Taiwan Fellowship is a completely funded academic program designed to encourage global research concerning Taiwan, cross-strait relations, China, the Asia Pacific area, and the study of Chinese culture. Fellowship Benefits
Those who receive the fellowship are granted the following:
- Monthly Allowance:
- NT$60,000 (~US$1,850) for professors, associate professors, and comparable research fellows.
- NT$50,000 (~US$1,540) for doctoral students, postdocs, and assistant professors.
- Round-trip Economy Class Airfare Assistance: Up to NT$35,000 (~US$1,080) for round-trip travel to Taiwan (reimbursed after receipt and boarding pass submission).
- Length of Research: A minimum of three months and a maximum of twelve months.
The research period should start no sooner than January 1, 2025, and end no later than December 31, 2025.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Taiwan Fellowship 2025, candidates must be:
- Non-Taiwanese citizens (foreign nationals)
- Professors, associate or assistant professors, postdoctoral scholars, or PhD students.
- Registered at or connected to a foreign academic institution
- Involved in areas connected to social sciences or humanities, focusing research topics on:
- Taiwan
- Cross-strait relations
- Mainland China
- Asia Pacific region
- Sinology.
Please be aware that individuals who are currently engaged in research, studying, or teaching in Taiwan cannot apply.
Required Documents
Candidates need to arrange and present the following items to apply for the Taiwan Global Fellowship 2025:

- Curriculum Vitae (CV) containing a compilation of publications.
- Research Proposal: approximately 3 pages adhering to conventional academic guidelines
- Two recommendation letters, or one recommendation letter and one consent letter from the head of the institute.
All documents should be forwarded to: Taipei Trade and Economic Office (TCEO) in Jakarta.
Application Submission Deadline: July 30, 2025.
