Who Can Apply
The purpose of the Social scholarships at EPFL is to serve as a final option after exhausting all other funding avenues, including parental assistance, state grants, loans, or cantonal scholarships that have been investigated or are currently being processed. Eligibility is determined by nationality and academic achievement:
- International Students: Qualified after finishing the first-year cycle and having spent a minimum of one year at EPFL. Educational loans for students.
- Swiss students, C permit holders, refugees, and individuals with a Swiss Secondary Education Certificate: Qualified beginning at the CMS (Cours de mathématiques spéciales) level.
EPFL Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
- The scholarship is given solely in instances of unforeseen and abrupt alterations in your financial, social, or family circumstances.
- The program does not substitute the original study financing plan and takes into account existing loans in its calculations.
- It is awarded for one academic year at a time, encompassing up to 10 months each year (5 months per semester).
How to Apply
New Deadlines for EPFL Scholarship Applications
For the Autumn Semester 2025, EPFL Social Scholarship application deadlines are as follows:
- Submit by June 1, 2025, for decisions by late August and payments by the end of September.
- Applications received by August 1, 2025, will receive notifications in mid-October, with payments around the same time.
- The final deadline is October 1, 2025, with updates and payments by late November.
For the Spring Semester 2026:
- Applications received by December 1, 2025, will receive notifications in mid-February and payments in early March.
- Submissions by February 1, 2026, will result in notifications and payments in early April.
- The final deadline is March 1, 2026, with responses and assistance by the end of April.
