SWITZERLAND 2023 EXPRESS PERMANENT RESIDENCE VISA FOR EVERYONE

Citizens of a select few nations do not need visas to enter Switzerland for domestic travel of up to 90 days. They include people from the EU, the Schengen region, and a small group of additional nations who have been given visa-free entry to Switzerland. All visitors, regardless of nationality, must obtain a Swiss resident visa for visits longer than three months.
One of the residency permits Switzerland gives is the Swiss Permanent Resident Permit (Permit C). During your initial admission into Switzerland, you are not eligible to seek permanent residency. You must first satisfy a few requirements.

SWITZERLAND PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The length of time you have resided in Switzerland is the first requirement you must be able to meet to be qualified for a Swiss permanent residence permit (usually known as a settlement permit).

  • First and foremost, you will either be issued a Permit B or a Permit L after your initial application for a residency visa in Switzerland. Although they are both initially issued for a year, Permit B can be reauthorized every year while Permit L can be renewed once.
  • EU/EFTA nationals may apply for a permanent residence permit after five years of continuous residency in Switzerland.
  • Also, a C Permit application can be obtained by Americans and Canadians after 5 years of continuous residency.

BENEFITS OF SWITZERLAND PERMANENT RESIDENCE PERMITS

You have two options for permanently establishing your residence in Switzerland: either with a Permit C or by naturalizing as a Swiss citizen. Many of the advantages of Swiss citizenship are also available to those with Swiss permanent residency, including:

  • You are free to work for any firm or organization.
  • Also, job changes are permitted without approval.
  • Additionally, you can reside, operate, and study anywhere in Switzerland.
  • You could as well start a business.
  • Moreover, you have access to welfare and social assistance benefits.
  • Owning of Real estate and other housing properties.

Only the following activities are prohibited with a Swiss resident permit but are permitted with Swiss citizenship:

  • Vote
  • Consider running for office
  • Being able to travel outside of Switzerland at any time without losing your status.

The duties of becoming a Swiss citizen also include those of other Swiss nationals, such as the completion of military duty for men between the ages of 18 and 34.

  • You first and foremost need to demonstrate your level of cultural assimilation into Swiss society and your proficiency in the local canton’s official language.
