What does the SI Baltic Sea Neighbourhood Programme involve? 

The Swedish Institute (SI) is providing a unique opportunity for organizations to engage, cooperate, and drive change throughout the Baltic Sea area and the EU’s Eastern Partnership nations. This program promotes global collaboration by financing daring, innovative, and transformative initiatives that seek to address regional issues.

Are you a non-profit organization, research center, government body, or trade association with aspirations for a more sustainable future? If so, this change is designed for you.

Types of Grants Available 

Candidates may seek two (02) categories of grants depending on the extent and length of their initiatives:

1. Seed Funding (SEK 100,000 – SEK 400,000 | 6 – 15 months) 

Seed funding aims to establish the groundwork for upcoming collaborations and more substantial funding proposals. It may be utilized for:

  • Create project ideas and recognize possible collaborators.
  • Develop proposals for the EU and various international funding possibilities.

2. Funding for Cooperative Projects (SEK 500,000 – SEK 1,000,000 | 12 – 24 months) 

Funding for cooperation projects seeks to enhance and broaden sustainable partnerships. This financing backs initiatives that:

  • Create networks and platforms for sharing knowledge.
  • Create and evaluate new models and techniques.
  • Participate in the formulation of policies and strategies.
  • Spread information and effective methods.

Eligibility Requirements

Qualified applicants are required to have a Swedish lead organization and legal entities from at least three of the program’s main countries. Candidates might encompass:

  • Organizations and foundations that are not part of the government
  • Municipal and regional governments
  • Public sector organizations
  • Tertiary educational entities and research organizations
  • Organizations between governments
  • Commercial enterprises and trade associations.

Eligible Countries

Entities from the listed countries are eligible to take part:

  • Main EU nations: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland
  • Main non-EU nations: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine
  • Extra nations: Denmark, Finland, Germany.
