Seniors who are about to graduate and have one quarter remaining in their enrollment can apply for a one-quarter reward up to $2,500.

In order to qualify for the Mary Gates Leadership Scholarship:

  • To be eligible, you must be an enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Washington (UW) Bothell, Seattle, or Tacoma campus, and actively working towards a bachelor’s degree. Continuous enrollment on a full-time basis is mandatory for the whole duration of the award period.
  • If you own additional financial accolades that endorse your leadership endeavors and are also selected for this scholarship, the overall sum you get may be modified. We advise reaching out to a member of the Mary Gates Endowment staff to address your individual circumstances.
  • In order to retain the scholarship, it is necessary for you to actively engage in your selected leadership endeavor and maintain full-time enrollment for the duration of the award. For the summer quarter, only a single credit is necessary to maintain financing.
  • Only one Mary Gates scholarship can be received simultaneously. Although it is possible to submit applications for several scholarships, only one scholarship can be awarded per quarter.

Prior recipients of the Mary Gates Scholarship:

  • If you have already been awarded the Mary Gates scholarship on two separate occasions, you are ineligible to reapply for it.
  • You can win a maximum of three Research and Leadership Scholarships in total. For example, if you have received two Research Scholarships in the past, you are only eligible to get one Leadership Scholarship.
