Principal Duties
Interns at GenU will have the distinct chance to collaborate closely with the Youth Engagement and Entrepreneurship Hub, the Country Support Hub, or the Global Solutions Hub, contingent upon their area of interest. Among the principal duties are:
Hub for Youth Engagement and Entrepreneurship
- Youth Engagement: Aid in the formulation and execution of plans for substantive youth involvement in GenU programs. This encompasses facilitating the operationalization of the Young People’s Action Team’s initiatives at both global and regional levels; executing the Youth Centrality Strategy and Youth Centrality Index; and incorporating feedback from young individuals, especially those from marginalized groups, to guide program design and execution.
- Entrepreneurship Programming: Aid in the implementation of entrepreneurial projects, encompassing the organization of seminars and mentorship sessions, fostering the development of entrepreneurial skills among youngsters, and enabling linkages with prospective partners.
- Program Support: Assist in the formulation and implementation of youth-focused initiatives, maintaining coherence with GenU’s strategic objectives, especially those pertaining to youth-led entrepreneurship and significant youth participation.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Facilitate the creation of advocacy materials, including blogs and digital content, to enhance the representation of young people’s views and priorities in GenU projects, while also assisting their participation in advocacy forums.
National Assistance Center
- Localization of GenU Agenda: Facilitate the adaptation of GenU’s global PPYP model to regional contexts, guaranteeing alignment with the needs and realities of youth in various areas. This entails facilitating the implementation of the Public Private Youth Partnership Platform (PPYP) at both global and national levels.
- Capacity Building: Engage in the organization and facilitation of capacity-building sessions for regional offices, national offices, youth, and youth-led groups, emphasizing program implementation and the localization of the PPYP model.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate the involvement of local and regional stakeholders, including youth organizations, to cultivate programmatic alliances and amplify the effectiveness of GenU initiatives at the grassroots level.
Global Solutions Center
- Global Solutions Portfolio: Facilitate the development and oversight of the global solutions portfolio, encompassing innovative youth-led projects and initiatives that correspond with GenU’s focal areas. Facilitate the enhancement of tactics pertaining to programmatic vision and execution.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Facilitate the oversight and assessment of current initiatives, aiding in the compilation of reports and evaluations that document lessons learned and exemplary practices.
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and peer-to-peer learning within global youth networks by utilizing resources such as webinars, thought leadership articles, and online platforms.
Overall Duties
- Collaboration: Engage closely with the GenU Programme Team and external partners to guarantee coherent and integrated support across various hubs.
Investigate and analyze emerging trends and topics pertinent to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, global solutions, and national support, offering insights that guide GenU’s strategy and initiatives.
- Administrative Assistance: Deliver administrative assistance as required, encompassing the organization of meetings, maintenance of documentation, and facilitation of the logistical components of program activities.
These tasks aim to furnish interns with an extensive learning experience, enabling them to make significant contributions to GenU’s purpose of empowering youth worldwide. Interns will acquire practical experience in adolescent involvement, program development, and advocacy, while simultaneously enhancing professional skills in a dynamic international setting.

Criteria for Eligibility
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions to qualify for this internship:
- Have been enrolled in an undergraduate degree program within the past year, preferably majoring in social studies, education, development, or a related field.
- Possess interest and/or experience (academic or practical) in youth development/engagement, public policy, international development, and initiatives involving adolescents and youth in development or humanitarian contexts.
- Possess initial employment or volunteer experience in youth engagement and/or programmatic initiatives in many nations.
- Proficient writing abilities are essential. Proficiency in synthesizing and creating idea notes and persuasive pitch decks for youth-oriented programmatic initiatives is highly sought after.
- Have exhibited interest in at least one of the hubs of GenU’s programs.
- Proficiency in research, qualitative data analysis, visualization, and knowledge management is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory. Proficiency in an additional official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a regional language is advantageous.
- Involvement with Youth Advisory Bodies for youth-focused organizations, such as the Young People’s Action Team of GenU, will be advantageous.
