Students around the world received major news today as Teesside University confirmed the launch of its British Council GREAT Scholarship for the 2026 academic cycle. Offered in partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the announcement introduces two competitive awards, each valued at ten thousand pounds. This update brings a valuable opportunity for high-achieving international students who want to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom while reducing the financial burden that often comes with studying overseas.

The GREAT Scholarships programme continues to attract global attention because it supports talented students who want to enroll in one-year postgraduate programs across the United Kingdom. Teesside’s participation strengthens this effort by giving applicants access to an innovative and industry-connected learning environment in the cities of Middlesbrough and Darlington. For the September 2026 intake, Teesside University will grant two GREAT Scholarships worth ten thousand pounds each. One award will go to a student from Vietnam, and the other will go to a student from Spain. These awards offer more than financial relief. Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet several important conditions to qualify:

Hold an international fee-paying status
Fund their studies independently
Secure a conditional or unconditional offer from Teesside University on or before twenty-four April two thousand twenty-six
Commit to studying full-time on campus in the United Kingdom
Meet academic and English language requirements set by their chosen program
Students should apply as early as possible to allow enough time for admissions processing, offer confirmation, and document submission.

Teesside University will announce the selected scholarship recipients by 3oth May 2025. Successful candidates must also take part in university events and outreach activities during their studies. These may include promotional engagements, alumni sessions, or student ambassador tasks. Because the GREAT Scholarship is a standalone award, recipients cannot combine it with other Teesside-funded scholarships or bursaries. The university does not allow scholarship deferrals, so students must plan to begin their course in September 2026.
