Study in UK | HPRU Climate Change and Health Security PhD Studentships 2026
The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), in partnership with the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), University College London (UCL), and the Met Office, is excited to announce a great opportunity for emerging researchers interested in climate change and public health. The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) is funding a Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) focused on Climate Change and Health Security. As part of this initiative, three fully funded PhD studentships will be offered for the 2025/2026 academic year.

- Yearly tax-exempt allowance of £22,780 (UKRI rate for 2025/26).

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants seeking one of the three available PhD studentships must fulfill the following requirements:
- Possess an appropriate bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree (both with excellent performance). In rare instances, a solid undergraduate degree along with pertinent work experience might be permissible.
- Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, excellent written and spoken communication abilities, and the capacity to work autonomously while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrate a sincere interest in research focused on climate change applications and health safeguarding in the UK.
- Candidates need to qualify for Home fee status—this opportunity is not available for international fee-paying applicants.
