What’s Different for the 2026 Application Procedure at Cambridge
The Gates Cambridge “statement” has been substituted with four (04) organized selection questions that correspond with the scholarship’s criteria. Candidates must:

- Describe the reasons for choosing Cambridge and how the program aligns with your future aspirations (200 words).
- Demonstrate dedication to enhancing lives through specific instances (300 words).

PhD candidates must provide a research proposal, and all applicants are required to submit a unique Gates Cambridge reference along with their academic references. Referees should assess cognitive skills, leadership qualities, rationale for the selected program, and dedication to others.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship Application Schedule for 2026
For American citizens living in the USA, the Gates Cambridge Scholarship applications will be available from 10 September 2025 to 15 October 2025 at 23:59 GMT. Information will be available to candidates on their application results by 10 December 2025, with selection panels planned for 23–24 January 2026. Successful candidates will get offers by February 2, 2026, with a firm acceptance window of 72 hours.
For all other eligible candidates globally, the application period also starts on 10 September 2025, but the deadlines differ based on the selected course, either on 2 December 2025 or 7 January 2026 as detailed in the University Course Directory. Results will be on 4 March 2026, with selection panels taking place on 23–24 March 2026. Issuance of final proposals is 6 April 2026, and candidates must confirm acceptance within 72 hours.
