About the BAICE Compare Fellowship
Compare is a well-known journal worldwide that focuses on international and comparative education. It serves as the official publication of the British Association of International and Comparative Education (BAICE) and is dedicated to fostering academic inclusiveness. Founded in 2017, the Compare Fellowship seeks to assist early-career scholars from the Global South by offering them international exposure, mentorship, and opportunities for publication.
BAICE Fellowship Benefits
- Chosen fellows will obtain complete financial assistance (covering travel, lodging, and living expenses) to engage in the upcoming activities:
- Participate and deliver a presentation at the BAICE 2026 conference (location and date to be determined).
- Join the Compare Writers workshop, a comprehensive day-long event designed for early-stage researchers.
- Engage in a 1–2 week research visit at a UK institution following the conference, providing opportunities to utilize academic resources and connect with researchers.
- During their time in their native country, Compare Fellows will additionally:
- Participate in virtual mentoring sessions.
- Create a research paper intended for submission to Compare.
- Assist in coordinating initiatives that promote scholarly writing within their organization or nation.
- Engage as a reviewer in Compare to aid in the journal’s peer-review procedure.
Eligibility Requirements
To submit an application, applicants need to fulfill these criteria:
- At present, be associated with a university in a developing nation (according to World Bank classification).
- Have earned their doctoral degree in the past six years.
- Have an active role in teaching or investigating within the education sector.
Required Documents
- CV/resume, outlining skills, work history, and published works.
- A 1,000-word statement detailing research interests, publication history, future academic goals, and how the fellowship will support them and their institutions.
- A 300-word abstract for a planned conference presentation at BAICE 2026 on a research subject of their selection.
- (Optional) If applicants have already reached out to a UK institution or mentor, they should include this in their application, although previous arrangements are not required.
